Many directors fear stepping up to be president of their board because they think they don’t have what it takes. This doesn’t need to be the case! There is much potential for good leaders on our boards, and our co-ops need leaders who are inspired to serve and willing to learn. In this Field Guide we’ll explain what we mean by “effective” and why having a proficient leader is important for the success of your co-op. We’ll then outline the knowledge, skills and temperament that will help board presidents serve their board and their co-op with excellence.

This Field Guide is adapted from Becoming an Effective Board President, a CBLD Online Recorded Workshop from August 25, 2010, presented by Nina Johnson and Art Sherwood.
